Hope craves a crowd

It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. — Titus 2:12-13

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Misery loves company.” Have you ever heard the saying, “Hope craves a crowd”?  You’ve probably never heard “heaven” used as a swear word either, right?  We don’t swear on hope.  Hope keeps us alive.  Ultimately, our dreams have always outpaced our capacity and usually our reality, but we still dream and encourage others to chase their dreams.  “Follow/Pursue your dreams” is virtually a TV mantra, but have you ever heard someone say on TV to pursue heaven?  Heaven is the ultimate hope, but some people seem to be afraid of talking about it for fear of being labeled a “pie in the sky” person.

While I don’t want any of us to “waste” our lives waiting for glory, I do believe the hope of heaven is critical to right living and finding joy in our journey now.  What is a hope or desire you have?  Ask your colleagues or neighbors the same question.  Then ask yourself & them where heaven would rank among the desires of life.  How does that impact your behavior and decisions today?  If heaven is just a place, you probably won’t change much.  If you know you will see Jesus, everything changes.  It’s His hope to see you!  In fact, he’s craving a crowd.
